Why This Site Exists
Florida keeps most jail and inmate information open to the public, yet that openness does not make a search easy. The records sit in separate systems, and the real trick is figuring out which one applies to the person you are trying to find. We built this site to close that gap for Nassau County. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office runs the local jail roster, and it covers people held before trial and those serving short county sentences. Once someone is sentenced to prison, the Florida Department of Corrections takes over with its own statewide locator. People held on federal charges or immigration matters appear in still other federal systems. We pull together the rosters, the locators, the office contacts, the visitation rules, and the records-request steps for each of those custody paths, then explain in plain words which one fits your situation.

What This Site Cannot Do
It helps to be clear about our limits. This is a privately operated reference, and we have no connection to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office, the county jail, the Florida Department of Corrections, or any other government agency in Florida. We do not run a jail, and we hold none of the official records. Because of that, certain things are simply outside what any private site can do:
- We cannot release, hold, or transfer anyone who is in custody.
- We cannot post bond, set up a visit, or send money to an inmate for you.
- We cannot offer legal advice of any kind.
- We cannot promise that every phone number, fee, or address stays current.
Current custody status, the charges against a person, and release details can be confirmed only by the sheriff's office or the corrections department. We can point you to the correct roster, but the official answer always comes from the agency that holds the record.
